All students are encouraged to explore music in all styles including classical, jazz, pop and current new music by contemporary composers.
Each student follows their own program of study which may include performance ensembles, theoretical or historical studies, examinations or composing.
Students may choose to work towards the completion of practical piano exams, participation in competitions and recitals, obtaining high school music credits, or towards entrance to music programs at colleges or universities.
The goals for each student are established each Fall and assessed throughout the year.
To supplement piano studies, this studio runs educational clubs, challenges or events which students may choose to join. It is a great way for students to explore music beyond piano lessons!
A motivational and fun way for students to work through technical exercises for each grade level.
All students start in Grade 1 at yellow then work up to the final “black belt” level. Students perform a final evaluation for each level and receive a certificate.
This studio follows the graded system provided by CONSERVATORY CANADA. The conservatory offers two curriculum streams: classical and contemporary idioms.
The classical stream exposes students to all genres of piano works from the Baroque era to contemporary Canadian compositions. The contemporary stream focuses on jazz , pop, and contemporary genres.
Conservatory Canada is an accredited institution within Canada and is recognized by the Ministry of Education. Students who take exams at Gr.7 or higher can obtain high school credits for music.
All students must work towards fluency in technical requirements and perform to the best of their ability a minimum of six pieces for their grade level.
